In the right place at the right time
My childhood memories are mostly from Buhalnita, where I would spend my summers with my cousins and grandparents. Hay gathering is still a way of life in this village and my grandmother Maria is ready to make another “capita” (haystack).
This was my grandmother from my mother’s side, grandma Bernaveta. She was so happy to see me for Easter. She would always cook for us and her yummy stews were the best!
Auntie Maria still lives in the house where my dear grandmother Bernaveta used to live. She carries on the traditions, runs her own little farm and plants her own crops. She is very serious in photos, but is a very lively, talkative lady in real life!
